Eli from Contra walking through the new roofing pad design, materials, and what makes it different.
The Problem: Roofs Do Not Forgive Bad Footing.
Working on a roof means loose granules, slick shingles, and steep pitches that do not care how careful you are.
- Traditional work boots are heavy and clunky, built more for the warehouse than a 12/12 pitch.
- Generic outsoles were not designed for asphalt shingles, metal roofs, or wet, icy mornings.
- Every step feels like a calculation, not a given, and your feet are smoked by midday.
We built Contra to fix that, by delivering you the most traction available with our modular pad options, all on a lightweight athletic workwear platform designed for comfort, balance, and performance.
The Solution: The New Contra Roofing Pad System
Built for Roof Pitches, Not Just Pavement.
Our new roofing pad pairs with Contra footwear to give you a low-profile, grippy platform that is purpose-built for shingles and steep roofs.
- Serious traction: custom rubber blend designed to bite into granules and shed debris.
- Optimized pattern: tread layout tuned for roof pitches and directional grip.
- Lightweight and agile: athletic-style feel so you can move confidently without dragging extra weight.
- Durability focused: formulated and tested for repeated climbs, walks, and transitions on and off the roof.
Modular, swappable, and ready for the day’s work.
- Hook-and-loop outsole system: pads attach securely in seconds, no tools.
- Swap on the fly: go from roof pad to all-around pad when you are back on the ground.
- Dialed in for Contra shoes: designed to work with our modular outsole platform for a locked-in feel.
This is not a generic slip-on. It is a core part of a system built specifically for roofers and tradespeople who live on ladders and pitches.
Real Roofs. Real Conditions. Real Use.

FAQ
Will this pad work on my existing Contra shoes?
Yes. The new roofing pad is designed for our modular outsole platform. If you already own Contra shoes with the compatible hook-and-loop base, the pad will attach directly. If you are unsure, reach out to our team before ordering.
What roof types is this pad best for?
The pad is optimized for asphalt shingles and has also been tested on coated metal and synthetic roofing surfaces. Performance can vary by material, condition, and environment. Always inspect each surface and use best-practice safety protocols on every job.
Does this replace safety gear?
No. Contra footwear and pads are not certified safety footwear and are not a substitute for OSHA-required fall protection, harness systems, or other personal protective equipment. Always follow OSHA, local regulations, and industry best practices for roof work. Our products are designed to enhance traction and comfort, not to prevent slips, trips, falls, or injury.
What if I order the wrong size?
We recommend ordering your normal athletic shoe size. If you receive your order and the fit is not right, contact us within our return window and we will help with an exchange or return according to our policy.
Can I cancel my pre-order?
Yes. If you decide to cancel before your order ships, reach out to us and we will process a cancellation and refund according to our pre-order terms.
